Shawnee Hills Farming and Orchards Tour w/Bald Knob Cross
Jane Adams, author of The Transformation of Rural Life: Southern Illinois, 1890-1990 will provide interpretation and stories of the origins of Jackson and Union County farming, vineyards, and orchards on this special tour. The tour will pass through the rolling Shawnee hills with a special stop at the Union County Heritage Museum with its renowned Kirkpatrick Pottery.
Tour goers will learn about farming while touring several historical farms including both orchard and vineyard. A special treat will be visiting the beautiful Bald Knob Cross overlooking the majestic countryside and the Shawnee Hills. All tastings, special snacks, treats and sit down lunch at the Yellow Moon Café in Cobden are included in the cost.
Pick up locations for the tour will be at 9:45am John A Logan College, Carterville and at 10:30am at the Murphysboro Walmart on Country Club Rd. off of Route 13. It is 4-5 hours long. The cost is $65 per person. To reserve a spot call 618-751-2924 or click book now below.
